Rap-A-Lot Records 40th Anniversary | Scarface’s ‘The Diary’ + Geto Boys’
Available June 19th and July 10th.
One of the most iconic and influential independent labels of all time, Rap-A-Lot Records, officially launches its 40th Anniversary campaign today with the start of vinyl pre-orders for two landmark catalog titles: “Scarface’s The Diary,” available June 19th and “Geto Boys’ We Can’t Be Stopped,” available July 10th.
The catalog will be distributed in partnership with Virgin Music Group, globally.
The announcement marks the beginning of a yearlong celebration honoring one of hip-hop’s most influential independent labels — a company that pioneered Southern rap, built the blueprint for artist-first independence, and continues to shape the culture from Houston to the world.

The campaign launch is also being featured today in Billboard, highlighting Rap-A-Lot’s legacy and long-term influence on hip-hop.
Founded by James Prince, Rap-A-Lot Records has spent four decades setting the tone through landmark releases, uncompromising vision, and a legacy rooted in ownership, authenticity, and artist development.

As the label celebrates this milestone anniversary, “The Diary” and “We Can’t Be Stopped” return to vinyl as the first chapter in a larger 2026 campaign that will include additional releases, special projects, media initiatives, and cultural moments throughout the year.
Originally released in 1994, The Diary remains one of Scarface’s most acclaimed and enduring works, widely regarded as a defining album in both his catalog and hip-hop at large. This new edition is further highlighted by the inclusion of “Ease Up Now,” a previously unreleased Scarface track unearthed from the archives.
Released in 1991, Geto Boys’ We Can’t Be Stopped stands as one of the most important rap albums of its era, helping elevate both the group and Rap-A-Lot Records onto the national stage. Together, these releases open the Rap-A-Lot 40 campaign by honoring two foundational titles from the label’s catalog while reintroducing their impact to longtime fans, collectors, and a new generation of listeners.
Speaking on the legacy of Rap-A-Lot Records and this milestone, James Prince stated: “Forty years later, we’re still standing on the same principles: independence, ownership, and building something that lasts.
We created our own lane when there wasn’t one, and that approach became a blueprint for what came after. That same mindset still influences the culture today in everything we do.”
Stay tuned for additional vinyl titles and anniversary-related releases planned throughout 2026.
