The UB Interview: SZN4 Talk Debut Album ‘I Fear’

Today R&B-pop powerhouse collective SZN4 officially released their highly anticipated debut album “I Fear,” a 13-track project from group members: Aaliyah Rose, Cameron Goode, Katie Roeder, and Donzell.

The album marks the group’s first full-length body of work, bringing together songs centered on emotion, growth, and confidence. The project’s artist management and creative vision were guided by Fifth & Freedom, led by co-founder and CEO Patientce Foster.

UB spoke to the group about the new release!

“I Fear” explores themes of vulnerability, confidence, relationships, and personal growth through a mix of R&B, pop, and soul, giving SZN4 room to move between intimate moments and more energetic records.

One of the project’s standout tracks, “4U“, highlights the group’s vocal chemistry over a melodic R&B production, with each member flowing effortlessly throughout the intimate sonic landscape.

Centered on the willingness to do anything for someone you love, the song reflects on the memories, shared experiences, and sacrifices that can shape a relationship, while its slow, romantic feel allows SZN4’s vocals to remain at the forefront.

The project is also a reflection of the work SZN4 has put in to reach this moment, representing the dedication, growth, and commitment behind their journey to releasing their debut album.

Since forming on Netflix’s Building the Band, SZN4 has turned their time on the series into a growing presence in music, building a dedicated following through their music and live performances.

Their momentum has continued with a nearly sold-out Next Stop Tour, a 2026 BET Awards appearance, and an ESSENCE festival performance debut.

And now SZN4 will be bringing “I Fear” to The Peppermint Club in West Hollywood tonight, giving fans the opportunity to hear the new project performed live.
