UB Preview: Usher Talks ‘Las Vegas Residency’

Fresh off of his amazing NPR Tiny Desk Concert, Global megastar and eight-time Grammy Award-winner Usher took the stage for back-to-back sold-out shows Friday, July 15th and Saturday, debuting his exclusive new Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM.

Custom-designed for the expansive Dolby Live stage and presented in partnership by Live Nation and MGM Resorts International, the show gives audiences an extraordinary immersive experience with extravagant costumes and state-of-the-art technology in lighting, video and special effects. The exclusive, only-in-Vegas spectacular is packed with an impressive repertoire of smash hits spanning the multi-talented showman’s 20-year career, including “Yeah,” “U Remind Me,” “My Boo,” “Love In This Club,” “OMG” and “You Make Me Wanna…”. Usher also performed a new song produced by Jermaine Dupri, tentatively entitled “I Ain’t Even Finna Hold U.

The new show incorporates audience interaction and staging throughout the 5,200-seat entertainment venue, where every guest has an up close and personal experience with the superstar.

Usher’s Las Vegas show features creative and show direction from Outside the Box Amusements, with co-creative direction by Aakomon Jones, video and lighting design by Fragment 9, set design by Tate Design Group and choreography by Cornithea “Rio” Henderson and Amy Allen.

Tickets for performances through October 2022 are now on sale, and a limited number of VIP meet & greet packages for each show also are available. Tickets can be purchased online. All shows begin at 9 p.m.

Fans are invited to A Taste of Passion, the immersive after party experience for Usher’s My Way residency, with appearances by Usher himself and live performances from the residency cast. This exclusive experience at On the Record in Park MGM gives guests a tantalizing taste of the music legend’s passions. Carouse around the neon-drenched world while Remy Martin’s mixologists shake up four custom cocktails. Produced by Outside the Box Amusements with design by Handsome Little Devils, the after party features DJ Mars, Brian Michael Cox and Keith Thomas. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com and include one complimentary cocktail.

Challenging himself creatively and testing musical boundaries are characteristics that have defined Usher‘s career since he was first discovered 20 years ago on “Star Search.” Usher has been ranked by the Recording Industry Association of America as one of the best-selling artists in American music history, having sold over 65 million albums worldwide.

He has won numerous awards, including eight GRAMMY Awards, and was named the #1 Hot 100 artist of the 2000s decade. Billboard named him the second most successful artist of the 2000s decade, with his career-propelling 2004 album “Confessions” being ranked as the top solo album of the 2000s decade. Usher has attained nine Hot 100 #1 hits (all as a lead artist) and 18 Hot 100 top 10 singles.

2021 continued to be a busy year for Usher also with new music, Usher‘s last singles “Don’t Waste My Time” and “Bad Habits” both hit #1 on the Billboard R&B Charts. He latest single is “Good Love” with City Girls.

Usher is currently finishing recording his 9th studio album which will be released fall 2022.
