Tamela Mann to Perform Tonight on NAACP Awards

Tamela Mann, alongside performances by award winning recording artists Wyclef Jean, Keri Hilson, John Legend, Jill Scott, Carlos Santana and The Roots will perform “Joy of the Lord” from her current CD, “The Master Plan” on Tillymann Music Group at the 41ST NAACP IMAGE AWARDS, broadcast live from Los Angeles’ historic Shrine Auditorium, Friday, Feb. 26 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

Hosted by Anika Noni Rose and Hill Harper and executive-produced by Vicangelo Bulluck, the special celebrates the accomplishments of people of color working in the fields of literature, music, television and film. Previously announced honorees include Tyler Perry, who will receive the Chairman’s Award and Wyclef Jean, who will receive the Vanguard Award. In addition, Mary J. Blige, Nick Cannon, Selena Gomez, Maxwell, Kevin McHale, Amber Riley, Larenz Tate, Cicely Tyson, David Mann, Gabrielle Union and Jenna Ushkowitz will appear on the special along with previously announced participants Jamie Foxx, Lenny Kravitz, Regina King, Taraji P. Henson, Myrlie Evers Williams, Adam Rodriguez, Sherri Shepherd, Mo’Nique, Morgan Freeman, Sandra Bullock, Gabourey Sidibe, Alfre Woodard, Mariah Carey, Mekhi Phifer and Tatyana Ali.

Mann’s “The Master Plan” recently debuted at #2 on the Bilboard Gospel Chart, following up Tamela’s 2004 “Gotta Keep Movin” and “The Live Experience,” which spawned a Top 20 Billboard Gospel chart hit and 2008 Stellar Award nominations for Female Vocalist of the Year and Contemporary Female Artist of the Year. Tamela, who also co-stars as Cora Simmons in Tyler Perry’s TBS sitcom “Meet The Browns” with husband David Mann, who plays her on-screen father Mr. Brown (also presenting at the awards), just launched the new season of “Meet The Browns,” the #1 rated series for African American audiences.
