UB Spotlight: Nick Cannon’s ‘Counsel Culture’ Is A Winner | Prime Video Tomorrow

A Refreshing Look Into Men Being Vulnerable, Honest and Receiving.

The new series “Counsel Culture,” a podcast turned talk show hosted by multifaceted entertainer Nick Cannon, will premiere tomorrow June 6th on Prime Video and Amazon Freevee.

All nine episodes of the series will be available June 6th on Prime Video.

The show seeks to help destigmatize topics around male mental health, will address issues including grief, loyalty, financial security, marriage, trust, and emotional vulnerability.

During each half-hour episode, Nick will be joined by different guest co-hosts and together they will discuss timely topics influencing society and impacting their own well-being.

The episodes are moderated by Nick and rely upon the knowledge of doctors, therapists and psychiatrists, as well as the lived experience of guest panelists.

Guest panelists for the show will include comedian Howie Mandel, former NBA star Lamar Odom, multi-talented entertainer NE-YO, NFL star receiver DeSean Jackson, multi-talented artist and entrepreneur Ray-J, singer-songwriter August Alsina, therapist Stephan Speaks, BEAM founder Yolo Akili Robinson, psychic medium John Edward, grief expert David Kessler, comedian Tim Chantarangsu, relationship expert Terri Cole, comedian and actor Godfrey, licensed therapist and author John Kim, renowned Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Sheila Nazarian, NFL legend T.J. Slaughter, former UFC Champion Tyron Woodley, NBA star Matt Barnes, and licensed therapist and author John Kim.

It’s a safe space and a brave place to allow men to discuss their emotions and allow themselves to learn, grow and heal,” states Nick Cannon. “Instead of canceling each other, we are counseling each other. We have a rotating panel where we will discuss necessary topics, and nothing is off limits.

Counsel Culture” is produced by NCredible and Amazon MGM Studios. The series is executive produced by Nick Cannon, Benjamin Sumpter and Michael Goldman. Edgar Martin will serve as the program’s director.

Counsel Culture” is a winner! A series like no other, that has been far too needed in a talk-show form.

Each episode allows the guests to be open and honest, while expressing themselves speaking on various subjects. Men that we celebrate and learn from, dive into topics that most men are not comfortable speaking about publicly.

We see and understand how truly relatable, the 9 to 5 man is to the celebrity.

A refreshing look into a world of men being vulnerable, honest and receiving.

Episode One (Anxiety & Depression): Howie Mandel gets candid about his experience in dealing with depression over the years.

Stephan Speaks talks about being able to be emotional as men and learning to be open with getting things off of their chest, while being transparent.

“Men don’t know how to do it, because they’re to busy suppressing and not releasing, which isn’t about crying.” The panel points out, how holding things in leads to acting out in other ways.

Episode Two (Understanding Grief): The panel dives into a deep conversation about grief and how men tend to handle it. Sharing experiences on how they have personally dealt with grief and methods to help others.

David Kessler praises Nick Cannon for his honestly and vulnerability while speaking on the subject.

This emotional episode is a must-watch.

Episode Three (Addiction): The panel explains how addictions can be hereditary and ways to spot an actual addiction.

Nick confirms he doesn’t have a sex addition and how being celibate helped him realize, with him it’s more about wanting love.

The panel gets candid on the addiction of technology, from social media to gaming.

Guest Lamar Odom shares how he lost everything he loved, and that’s how he learned the hard way. “I don’t want my love for women to hurt them anymoe,” he stated.

Episode Four (Modern Dating): The panel of guys including Ne-Yo, talk about dating this day in age.

Nick shares the story on how he and Mariah Carey got together and how it was her who showed interest in him first.

Ne-Yo talks about his last marriage and takes a few humorous shots at his ex.

Episode Five (Toxic Masculinity): This is another must-watch episode.

Masculinity and femininity are rarely discussed subjects.

The panel speaks on how men feel their masculinity sometimes is seen as toxicity.

Episode Six (Image Of A Man): The panel gets in a real interesting discussion in this episode.

As they share how social media plays a role, with people being able to leave their opinions without consequence. And how that plays a huge role in the so-called image of a man.

Along with financial status, personal image, penis size, and height.

Episode Seven (Fatherhood): Dr. Ish Major explains how Black men are the most present fathers, when they are present studies show.

Doug E. Fresh calls in and ask the panel a question about raising black kids.

Ray J speaks on how being a father of a daughter has matured him, while Nick talks about his children and if he may possibly have more.

Episode Eight (Mental Health In Sports): Matt Burns along with other athletes discusses drugs and drug abuse.

While Matt shares his experience with therapy and how cannabis started helping him at a young age.

The athletes get candid when talking about people, expecting them to be machines instead of people.

Episode Nine (How Men Love): Love is the subject on the final episode of the first season. Most men know if they’re falling in love with someone, after the third date according to Dr. Ish.

Love is discovery,” states August Alsina. “People try to put a definition on something that is intimate. You’re constantly learning something new about the person and unfolding. There are also parts of you that unfold.

August was asked about his appearance on “The Surreal Life” last year and sharing his love for another man and how he was able to give himself permission to go on that discovery journey?

The greatest gift that could have ever been given to me was exposure. To expose me to so many different people, places and things. So when people want you to define yourself whether you’re as you say; straight, gay, bi or whatever. Love is like much more complex than that and much more in-depth. For me, I’m the kind of person, because love is a language, I’m fluent in love when it speaks to me.

August went on to say; “Me having to choose self, looking at my reflection. here it is presented in front of you, are you willing to choose yourself? Do you have enough self love and respect to choose you above all else?
