Listen to ‘Why I Run’ | New Inspirational Single from Larry E Rogers Jr.

When Martin Luther King Jr. addressed the Hunger Club Forum on May 10, 1967, he stated three major evils—the evil of racism, the evil of poverty, and the evil of war. The civil rights leader said these are the three things that I want to deal with today.

Now let us turn first to the evil of racism. There can be no gain saying of the fact that racism is still alive all over America. Racial injustice is still the Negro’s burden and America’s shame. And we must face the hard fact that many Americans would like to have a nation which is a democracy for white Americans but simultaneously a dictatorship over black Americans. We must face the fact that we still have much to do in the area of race relations.

Fast forward 53 years later, Larry E Rogers Jr. a Singer, Songwriter and Producer of Brunswick, Georgia (a city best known for the highly publicized slaying of Ahmaud Arbery who was killed by three white men while jogging) heard the echoes of Kings’ Hunger Club Forum address.

This inspired the Brunswick producer to create “Why I Run,” a musical masterpiece that speaks to the injustice that black Americans face, even in today’s society shamefully at the hands of those who pledged to protect us.

Listen to “Why I Run,” the anthem of equality, justice, and peace for Black America today.
