Leela James Returns to R&B with ‘Complicated’

Leela James is back with her first R&B single in four years, “Complicated.” The first single from her forthcoming album.

Leela in her unmistakable voice, reminds us of what we love about Soul/Funk music, talking about the difficulties of love even when it’s right.

Don’t make this complicated
You know you want it too
You know that I’ve been waiting”

The single is produced by Rex Rideout. Her last R&B release, was the #1 single, “Don’t Want You Back.”

UB has spoken to Leela a few times, in 2010 we asked her: what major obstacle had she faced in the music industry; “Pretty much just trying to fit into a business and be commercial, when you’re really not considered that way.” Leela went on to say; “So just really just trying to crossover and be accepted for who I am.”

“Complicated” follows her 2019 rock band collaboration, with The Truth on the EP “Are You Ready?”
