Mary Mary Debuts in Top 10
Multi Grammy award winning duo Mary Mary does it again as their 6th studio album SOMETHING BIG debuts at #10 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart with an impressive 42,390 units sold in its debut week. Upon its release, SOMETHING BIG immediately shot to the top of the iTunes R&B albums chart, and received critical raves from the press.
USA Today boasts SOMETHING BIG as “celebratory and thrilling” earning the duo 3 ½ / 4 stars. People Magazine named the title track “Something Big” as “a joyous testimony” gaining the album 3/4 stars while the New York Times Ben Ratliff proclaims “Listening to the record, you never forget the idea of gospel as a common denominator in American pop…These songs aren’t all explicitly about religious devotion, but they are all about striving, perseverance and straight talk…”. Further progressing the duo into mainstream pop appeal, VIBE Magazine states SOMETHING BIG “continues to blend saved and secular tunes, Mary Mary’s uplifting sixth LP deserves praise”.
To kick off their whirlwind promo tour across the nation, Mary Mary delivered a captivating performance of their chart-topping single “Walking” on the 42nd Annual NAACP Image awards and performed the track on CBS’ The Talk. The duo also celebrated their release week with a performance of their unforgettable anthem “Never Wave My Flag” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In addition to judging the fourth season of BET’s “Sunday Best” this spring, Mary Mary are slated to perform on “The Mo’Nique Show” April 20 and the Dove Awards on Easter Sunday, April 24.
Committed to a non-stop work ethic and desire to push boundaries and make a difference, Erica and Tina recently announced their “Do Something Big” campaign with the launch of the ‘Fly Away with Mary Mary’ contest, an opportunity for fans to win a free trip to meet Mary Mary and attend a tour concert. In this Facebook-based campaign, fans are asked to participate in a 5-week call-to-action to “Do Something Big” for others, with each week focusing on a different segment of those in need– the elderly, the homeless, local schools, local neighborhoods and world hunger.
Having launched April 1 in Detroit, the Still Something Big Tour with BeBe and CeCe Winans continues this weekend in NYC with a show at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Additional Mary Mary tour dates to be announced.
