Award-winning music director and bassist Adam Blackstone & Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, actress, and author Fantasia Barrino deliver the official music video for their latest collaboration, “Summertime.

A reimagined version of the 1935 song composed by George Gershwin for his opera, Porgy and Bess.

The jazz-inspired rendition celebrates the 20th anniversary of Fantasia’s victory on Season 3 of “American Idol” in 2004.

Directed by 12vy, the video captures the enchanting, emotional depth of a highly personalized cover song. Throughout, Blackstone plays the backdrop with a percussive zest, showcasing his instrumental prowess. Barrino’s idiosyncratic harmonies melt together with a charmingly candid live performance that breathes new life into the record.

The new video arrives on the heels of Blackstone’s recent performance at The Sun Rose in Los Angeles earlier this month. An unforgettable live experience unlike no other, the evening featured hits from the multi-instrumentalist’ extensive catalog, highlighted by a special appearance from the iconic Stevie Wonder.

The Emmy award winning, Grammy nominated multi-hyphenate continues his impressively efficient run in 2024. From orchestrating the Super Bowl LVIII pre-show, to creating his very own Pro Series Signature bass with Jackson Guitars – the “Gladys Jackson” bass guitar, named after his grandmother – Blackstone is a consummate entertainer in the truest sense of the word.

On top of all this, Blackstone was recently nominated for a Tony Award for his work on the musical Hell’s Kitchen as the music supervisor, in addition to being nominated for an Emmy Award (for Outstanding Music Direction) for the 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
