Renowned, award-winning singer/songwriter Sevyn Streeter, has released a visual to “Taboo,” from her “Drunken Wordz Sober Thoughtz” latest album release.

The song is one of the album’s highlight’s and samples Alexander O’Neal‘s classic, “If You Were Here Tonight.” The new visual is from HD Sessions, and features Sevyn singing a new live vocal to the hot song.

The new song version, has an added element incorporating New Edition‘s “Can You Stand The Rain.”

If You Were Here Tonight” was written & produced by The Time member Monte Moir and “Can You Stand The Rain” is written and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, also formally of The Time.

UB interviewed Sevyn Streeter for the release of “Drunken Wordz Sober Thoughtz,” and we asked her how “Taboo” came about? “First off, shout out to Alexander O’Neal, just for the musicality and genius. And shout out to DMile, the level of talent in that mans hands, he’s just fire. He sent me a folder of beats and I was working with one of my long time collaborators, I call him my musical hubby, his name is Micah. We wrote, It Won’t Stop” and “Before I Do” together.Sevyn continued, “It was me, Micah, Eric Dawkins…dude is like a phenomenal artist and songwriter, and Vincent Berry whos the same, a phenomenal singer and songwriter. That beat just spoke to us. It was funny, because you would of thought Micah was this 80’s R&B singer, they way he was bouncing around the studio. He had all the dance moves down, we just had a great ass time creating that record. The song just feels good, it’s one of those things, you just want to continue, you wanna play that record over and over again. So yeah shout out to the team and squad because we had a great time with that record.

Sevyn is also prolific songwriter, most notably for writing for Ariana Grande and Chris Brown. Not to mention Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Fantasia, Tamar Braxton and more.
