Kim Fields and Malinda Williams star in “A Cross to Bear.” The film originally aired on UP (Uplifting Entertainment) TV and now it’s available to own on DVD. Directed by Tandria Potts, who’s also responsible for As Written, a documentary on Chrisette Michele. A Cross to Bear is also co-produced by Terri J. Vaughn and Cas Sigers Beedles.

The film follows Erica Moses played by actress Danielle Deadwyler, who is a single mother and homeless. Life hasn’t been her great for her, she’s been on her own since the age of 14. The film follows her as she continues to face many obstacles including alcoholism and finding ways to deal with her past abusive relationship.

With the bad comes the good eventually, Erica soon finds herself in a special home with a new family. Not your traditional family to say the least, but a group of young women who can relate to her and who are all attempting to make a better life for themselves. Joan played by Kim Fields heads up this new household and as the story unfolds you find out why Joan has created this home and why she hasn’t been able to fully escape her past.

A Cross to Bear is an emotionally powerful story of tragedy, forgiveness, redemption and faith. It shows that sometimes the hardest part of the journey is the first step.
