Independent artist, songwriter, and producer Darius Martin recently released the music video for his hot single “Sweet Lies” featuring hit producers Cool & Dre via NITRAM Music Group.

The video debuted with support from BET.

The melodic single, is a breathe of fresh air within the realms of R&B.

Darius Martin is clearly very intentional about his catalog, showcased on the album “Sorry No More.

‘Sweet Lies’ is about that space most people know but don’t talk about — where you understand the situation isn’t perfect, but the feeling is real,” stated Darius. “I’m not judging anyone in that song. I’m just being honest about it. The video was built to put you inside that feeling.

Sweet Lies” is drawn from Martin’s album “Sorry No More,” a project that spans alt-R&B, Afrobeats, pop and hip-hop and features production from Grammy Award-winning duo Cool & Dre, alongside collaborators Raise Kanan, Dimmitri, and Earl Johnson.

The album has generated more than 1 million YouTube views on a single track, 544,000 streams, and 7,700 Shazams for “Fill My Cup” featuring Cool & Dre, and has built a monthly listener base of more than 163,000 on Spotify since its release.

The video directed by Damien Sandoval and co-conceptualized with Martin, the “Sweet Lies” video transports viewers into a silhouetted, dark, and moody world designed to mirror the emotional ambiguity at the heart of the song.

The final scene — a voicemail left unanswered — punctuates what Martin describes as the first chapter in a three-part narrative arc: acceptance of an imperfect situation, the moment of clarity in “Distant,” and the resolution of “Sorry No More.

Darius Martin is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Los Angeles.

Born in El Paso, Texas and raised in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Martin relocated to Southern California in high school and later earned his degree from the Los Angeles Film Institute in 2020.

He co-founded NITRAM Music Group — an independent label, the name a deliberate inversion of his surname — with his father, Michael Martin, a former musician and the son of two parents who met in a band.

Martin dropped his debut single “Ring” in 2022 and has since built a strong catalog.

Earning placements in Notion, Earmilk, Melodic Mag and Hip Hop On Deck and brand partnerships with Qatar Airways, Planet Fitness and Doorways.

Darius Martin recectly hosted listening parties in LA at Hotel Ziggy and Atlanta at Rose Champagne Bistro with Nardo and Ray Daniels.

UB spoke to Dre in 2006 and asked him then, how do they (Cool) decide who they want to work with? “Yo man I’m from Miami, my thing is if they can cut me a check, let’s work (laughs). If they got money at all, it’s like let’s work, let’s make something hot! I mean I’m blessed where I’m at the point where I charge $70,000 for a track. But I can get a call from a kat in the hood that’s like Dre I only got $12,000 and I’m going to be down to work with them. It’s about making money and great music. Man in Miami there are no opportunities at all.”

Dre continued; “I’m black & I witness it everyday. Yo I know kats that graduate from college with degrees in Miami, now working at retail stores. So if it’s about making good music, I’m on my grind. But I ain’t gonna do no devil shit (laughs). If someone comes to me and like I want to make a devil worshiping album, I’ll be like I’m cool.
