UB Spotlight: ‘3rd Annual Hip Hop Grandmaster Awards’

The 3rd Annual “Paid In Full Foundation Hip-Hop Grandmaster Awards” were on fire this year!
This year’s “Hip Hop Grandmaster Award,” recipients were Hip Hop legends Kool G Rap and Grand Puba.
Taking place this past Saturday October 18th at the Bellagio Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, NV.
George Clinton received the inaugural Quincy Jones Award, which honors individuals and groups who provided the building blocks of Hip Hop.
Kool Rock Ski of the Fat Boys and Jalil Hutchins of Whodini received the inaugural Contributor Award, which celebrates artists whose talents have helped expand the reach and expression of hip hop.
Hosted by Grammy Lifetime Achievement recipient and 2024 Hip Hop Grandmaster honoree Roxanne Shanté, the gala’s star-studded attendees included: Dr. Dre, Nas, Ludacris, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Chris Tucker, Gayle King, David Goggins, Van Jones, Fab 5 Freddy, Doug E. Fresh, Rakim, Scarface, Grandmaster Caz, Kool Moe Dee and more.
Highlights Included:
• Compelling conversation honoring Quincy Jones with Quincy Jones III, Dr. Dre, Scarface, Babyface and honoree George Clinton.
• Electric performances from Nas, Ludacris, Havoc, George Clinton, Babyface, Rakim, Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz, Doug E. Fresh, Roxanne Shanté, Kymberli Joye and more.
• Fireside chat hosted by Steve Stoute honoring this year’s Grandmasters Kool G Rap and Grand Puba.
The Hip Hop Grandmaster Awards is the Paid in Full Foundation’s annual fundraising gala that celebrates and honors transformational Hip Hop artists who have not received the recognition and economic rewards proportional to their exceptional contributions to art and culture.
The award includes a financial stipend for the honorees and is intended to empower the artists to further their creative and artistic endeavors.
The Paid in Full Foundation (PIFF) is a non-profit charitable organization founded by Ben and Felicia Horowitz in 2022 and headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Paid In Full Foundation’s mission is to recognize transformational artists who have made a significant cultural impact and empower them to fulfill their continued creative and artistic endeavors.

The honorees were chosen by a Selection Committee made up of last year’s honorees, Rakim and Scarface, as well as the foundation’s Board of Directors including Felicia and Ben Horowitz, Steve Stoute, Michelle Ebanks and Quincy Jones III, and Advisory Board including Nas, Fab 5 Freddy, Ralph McDaniels and Anthony Saleh.
