Available on Digital and On Demand Tomorrow.

The Cineverse debut film from Pargo Productions, “The Final Play” is available on digital and On Demand Tomorrow May 27th.
“The Final Play” tells the heartfelt and comedic story of professional basketball player Breylon McNeil, played by real-life professional basketball player Jeremy Pargo who also co-wrote and executive produced the film.
This is a great new Black romance comedy!
With the ups and downs of finding the right one, and all that comes with it.
The world of Basketball and Love assemble in “The Final Play.”
“The Final Play” – inspired by Pargo’s own life experiences – takes the audience on a powerful journey of resilience, love, and self-discovery.
Recently retired Breylon embarks on a quest to rebuild his life. While confronting unresolved fears and the sacrifices of life beyond the court, he learns that winning in the game of love means embracing vulnerability and making the ultimate ‘final play.’
“The Final Play” offers an authentic portrayal of Black men, Black women, and the ways they come together and break apart, delivering a story that is both inspiring and deeply relatable.
Director’s Statement:
Coming from a background in sports and growing up as an athlete with an artist’s heart who loves Love…. “The Final Play” was a perfect merge of two of my favorite worlds colliding. This story felt like home in many ways and was very familiar to the “Becoming an adult” era in life, as we all grow and transition as a person, in friendships, career and love.
“The Final Play” movie is a complete modernized & fun take on exploring the human phases of transitions in life when desiring success in totality. The story is told with a style and tone inspired by our beloved black romantic classics like “Love and Basketball,” “Love Jones,” “Brown sugar,” and many more.
There is a relatability to today’s time that speaks through the writing style, while also maintaining a sense of nostalgia and comedic levity. It was important to myself and the executive producers to share the struggles in love from an unpopular perspective, a successful black man’s POV. The perspective of the black professional male athlete who is highly successful, is often stigmatized as a man who does not desire commitment and in many ways remains irresponsible in his choices with love.
This story challenged that, we wanted to dive deeper into the desires of a man’s heart, who understands life beyond monetary success and is actively seeking healing and to be loved fully and to learn how to love someone else fully. This is a film that will provoke self assessment and an engaging conversation starter around the culture of dating and building in today’s time.
