CBS announced “Watson,” the new medical mystery series starring Morris Chestnut, will premiere after the AFC Championship Game, Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at 10:00-11:00 PM, ET. on CBS, and streaming on Paramount+.

Watson” will begin airing in its regular time period beginning Sunday, February 16th at 10:00-11:00pm ET/PT.

Watson” takes place six months after the death of the titular character’s friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty.

The show stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson, who resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson‘s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.

Watson” is a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.

Watson” also stars Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Ritchie Coster, Inga Schlingmann and Rochelle Aytes.

UB spoke to Morris Chestnut in 2013 in support of “The Best Man Holiday,” and we asked him why it’s important for audiences to see African American men, who are powerful as well as vulnerable on the screen? “I think it’s very important, especially because of the stereotypes of a lot black men being in jail or who don’t take care of their kids. It’s just not even particularly to black men, but just positive black images on screen.

Watson” is produced by CBS Studios. Craig Sweeny wrote the premiere episode and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Morris Chestnut; Sallie Patrick; Larry Teng; Shäron Moalem MD, PhD; Aaron Kaplan for Kapital Entertainment; and Brian Morewitz. Larry Teng also directed the first two episodes.
