The UB Interview: Emerging PsiRyn Talks ‘Sober’ + Kandi
The Ladies Also Dish on Their Upcoming EP & More.
Grammy Award-winning songwriter, artist and producer, Kandi Burruss debuted talented new girl group, PsiRyn (pronounced “Siren”) and with their first single, “Sober,” available now.
Originally beginning as solo artists, the group was able to capture the attention of Kandi Burruss shortly after they shared a viral harmony video on Instagram. Impressed by the girls, Kandi has been working and mentoring the group ever since.
Kandi Burruss discussed the trio with Nick Cannon and Brandin Jay, who showed interest in forming a super girl group. Despite starting as solo artists, the opportunity to join forces as a group was too thrilling to resist.
After countless captivating acapella covers such as their viral take on Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love” across their growing social media channels, PsiRyn is now ready to showcase their melodic harmonies in their own music. A departure from their previous work of displaying their vocal skillset across a range of R&B favorites, their new track gives fans and R&B music lovers a taste of what PsiRyn can do.
“Sober” takes listeners on a relatable journey of maturity coupled with vulnerability in a relationship, as the trio’s vocal dynamics lights up the mid-tempo beat. Each of the three girls contributes to the group with unique talents: Victoria brings a jazzy and sultry voice, while Jada shines with powerful high notes, and Anaya showcases whistle tones and butterfly sounds. Their music blends R&B and Pop and is sure to appeal to a wide range of audiences with this track.
