90s R&B Trio Shades Returns With Captivating ‘Summer Nights’
Reintroducing Danielle, Tiffanie, and Monique.
90s R&B trio Shades has returned, with the new single “Summer Nights.”
The captivating up-beat track is filled with perfect harmonies, the group has displayed on earlier songs. The production includes a sample from Carl Thomas hit single “I Wish,” produced by Mike City.
“Summer Nights” also includes a “summertime” reference, from the DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince classic 90s hit “Summertime.”
Reintroducing Danielle, Tiffanie, and Monique – the dynamic trio who once captivated the R&B music scene in the 90s as members of Shades on Motown Records.
Debuting in 1996 with singles like “Tell Me (I’ll Be Around),” & “Serenade” on their self titled album, “Shades” that was later released in 1997. They landed on the movie soundtrack, ”The Associate” with Whoopi Goldberg.
After Motown, the ladies continued to write and sing together in the studio as a trio writing and the song, ”Goody Goody” for Kool And The Gang “Gangland” compilation album, under the name Reign.
The ladies signed a production deal with Peter Thomas Entertainment and recorded with producers and writers like Noontime, Jazzy Phe, Johnta Austin and a host of others. After a hiatus of 25 years, these talented women are reuniting to fulfill their dreams of singing together once again.

Danielle, known for her powerful vocals and captivating stage presence, has spent the past two decades as a dedicated vocalist and wedding singer. With five children to care for, she has balanced her passion for music with the responsibilities of marriage and motherhood. Her soulful performances include singing back up for Enrique Iglesias, and touring the world have made her a sought-after artist in the wedding industry, leaving couples and guests in awe of her talent.
Tiffanie is a Jersey girl who brings the edge and youthful energy to the group. While the group was in hiatus, she pursued her Master’s degree in Public Administration and now is an entrepreneur with several businesses in New Jersey. She is a mother of two teenagers and spends her time traveling and advocating for quality education and childcare.
Monique Peoples, born and raised in Los Angeles, moved to the east coast to finish high school. After graduating from cosmetology school, she met her band mates and they got a deal on Atlantic as Fourte’. She’s been force behind local Black Lives Matter efforts, but many know Monique as a hairstylist at Frank Antonio in Newport, on tv/film sets and as a board member with RIBFF (Rhode Island Black Film Festival), and as a volunteer at Newport’s MLK Community Center. However, she’s also mom to Jacob 9, fur Mom to Ella, Peanut &B Kitty, turtle mom to Bella, a yoga enthusiast, a life long learner, and a voracious reader.
