The UB Interview: Deb Antney Talks ‘Deb’s House’
Plus Ms. Deb Shares Her Biggest Accomplishment & More.
A new episode of “Deb’s House” airs this Friday June 28th, at 10:00 pm on We tv.
The new series follows famed music mogul Deb Antney, who pioneered the careers of several high-profile artists such as Gucci Mane and French Montana, as she embarks on a nationwide hunt for rap’s next female superstar MC.
In Deb’s House, produced by TeamSheed Productions, Deb Antney is on a mission to uncover and shape the future of female rap talent. Armed with 25 years of industry wisdom and the help of her colleagues, including L. Londell McMillan, Esq. from The Source magazine, along with media personality and Hot 97’s TT Torrez as guest judges, Antney identifies eight up-and-coming artists to move into Deb’s House and compete to become her next rap protégé.
Beyond seeking exceptional lyricism, Ms. Deb is seeking women with unwavering dedication and the willingness to make sacrifices on the road to hip-hop stardom. Completely stripped down to their raw potential, the competition unfolds as a fierce test of sisterhood, resilience, and talent, where only the most tenacious can be crowned as Ms. Deb‘s “chosen one.”
On this weeks episode entitled “Brand Yourself,” the rappers head to NYC for a marketing challenge with fashion designer Willie Esco.
The Golden Mic is introduced and an elimination shakes the house when Ms. Deb realizes one of the women may be in the competition for the wrong reasons.
This weeks episode is another good one, following the first two. Proving not to be like any other music competition show, this weeks focus is branding. A topic Ms. Deb expands on in our interview.
Also on this weeks episode, a beef is squashed and Ms. Deb‘s emotions are on display.
Mogul, mentor, mother and philanthropist Debra Antney is truly every woman or at least what most women aspire to be. As CEO of Atlanta-based Mizay Entertainment, a talent management firm launched in 2007. Ms. Deb could be described as a ‘Pit Bull in a skirt’. Debra Antney has positioned herself as a major power player in a male dominated industry demanding equality and yet keeping her femininity. Deb Antney is a pioneer in Hip Hop and has taken off her heels and used them to break the proverbial glass ceiling to become one of the few female managers to create not only bankable artists, but also superstars.
Growing up in Jamaica Queens, New York, her problematic yet family-oriented up bringing has certainly helped to shape her into the successful entrepreneur she is today.
In addition to Gucci, Antney established the careers of some of the hottest names in Rap/HipHop and Pop music including OJ Da Juiceman, Nicki Minaj, French Montana and Waka Flocka, all of whom have had hit records, sold out performances and their likeness splashed across every form of popular media while under her tutelage. In fact, Deb created the tag line “Changing the game one artist at a time” to describe her company mission and alongside her talented team, continue to do just that.
In 2013, Antney launched Be100 Radio, the top online radio station for independent artists with over 100,000 listeners daily, nationally and internationally.
