UB Spotlight + Preview: Cast Talks ‘Bad Boys: Ride Or Die’
Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Joe Pantoliano, Jacob Scipio & Vanessa Hudgens.
Written by Chris Bremner and Will Beall, “Bad Boys: Ride Or Die” hits theaters Friday June 7th, via Columbia Pictures.
This Summer, the world’s favorite Bad Boys are back with their iconic mix of edge-of-your-seat action and outrageous comedy, but this time with a twist: Miami’s finest are now on the run.
When Captain Howard is unjustly accused of a lifetime of drug-related crimes, the Bad Boys vow to clear his name. But as they get closer to finding out the truth, Mike and Marcus are framed themselves—and now, they’re fugitives with a cartel-funded bounty on their heads.
Pursued by the cops, targeted by the cartels, hunted by every gang in the city… whatcha gonna do when everybody comes for you?
“The big success of this franchise is they love being on screen together,” states veteran producer Jerry Bruckheimer. “They love being in confrontation with the bad guys and having conflict between themselves. It’s real joy for them. When I come across characters like Mike and Marcus, I want to see them on the big screen. I want to create conflict and drama and comedy and to bring the best people together—the best writers, the best directors, the best actors. Because if you put that all together right, the audience will come back over and over again.”
Back for another tour with the Bad Boys are their former colleagues from the Advanced Miami Metro Operations (AMMO) team — Kelly (Vanessa Hudgens) and Dorn (Alexander Ludwig).
Full cast includes; Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Nuñez, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Jacob Scipio, Melanie Liburd, Tasha Smith, Rhea Seehorn with Tiffany Haddish and Joe Pantoliano.
And Bad Boys wouldn’t be Bad Boys without the tapestry of characters that show up in film after film. In “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” they all get their moments, with John Salley returning as Fletcher, DJ Khaled reprising as Manny, and—returning to the role he created in “Bad Boys II” at age 15 and reprised in “Bad Boys for Life,” Dennis McDonald coming back as Reggie.
