Daniel Caesar Releases the Subtle ‘Waiting In Vain’ from ‘Bob Marley: One Love’

From the 7-Track EP, Available on February 14th.

Marking the second release ahead of “Bob Marley: One Love” (Music Inspired by the Film), today Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Daniel Caesar, has shared a cover of the iconic song “Waiting In Vain.

In conjunction with the opening of the highly anticipated new film “Bob Marley: One Love,” the forthcoming 7-track EP will be released on February 14th via Tuff Gong/Island Records.

Comprised of seven essential compositions from the Jamaican reggae icon, the EP features contemporary covers including Kacey Musgraves’ acoustic rendition of “Three Little Birds” (already released) and more from Wizkid, Leon Bridges, Jessie Reyez, Bloody Civilian, and Skip Marley, grandson of Bob Marley.

The Marley family had a hand in choosing and approving all selections for the EP. This under¬scores the strong, enduring six-decade relationship with Island Records, the Marley family, and Jamaica, elements which are reflected in the movie as well. Daniel Caesar, who has a special connection to the music of Bob Marley through his father who grew up in Montego Bay, was a perfect fit for this project. “My dad used to sing around the house a lot and play the guitar and one of his favorite songs to play was ‘Redemption Song’ – That was one of the first songs I remember learning how to play as well,” states Daniel Caesar.

Daniel also cites Bob Marley as an inspiration to his own artistry: “I love the idea of music where…if you’re going to say something, say something. It’s not all about aesthetic, he had something to say. Similarly, I have things to say – a lot of my music centers around expressing my emotions, but I have moments where I like to say something that is important and take a stance.
