The UB Interview: Maryam Basir Talks ‘LACE’ Season 2

The second season of its hit legal drama series “LACE,” premiered last month, a new episode premieres today on ALLBLK.
After the explosive events of last season, the incomparable Lacey McCullough’s (Maryam Basir) world has been thrown into a downward spiral.
This season, Lacey’s enemies are finally closing in, culminated by a large-scale FBI investigation, leaving the future of Lacey and McCullough & Associates hanging in the balance. Lacey’s right-hand man and loyal confidante has departed the firm for good… disappearing without a trace. And after exhausting all appeals, Lacey’s determined to get her mother out of prison, but with the firm in flux she will need to figure out who she can and cannot trust.
All while her personal relationship is crumbling, and she is in danger of losing custody of her daughter. Though this prolific lawyer is renowned for getting things done… by any means necessary for her rich and powerful clientele, will she be able to work her magic when it’s her own life on the line?
Season 2 cast includes Maryam Basir, Tanyell Waivers, Antoine Harris, Mollie Dolcimascolo, Taylor Bynoe, Isaac Stephen Montgomery and Leticia Labelle. With special guest appearances by Kellita Smith, Leonard Roberts, Terrell Carter and Norman Towns.
Born in Detroit and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Maryam Basir has always had dreams of massive success. After graduating from University of Michigan, Maryam moved to New York City to pursue her passions. It wasn’t long after landing in New York City that she caught the acting bug, was signed by an agency and immediately began acting and modeling. Maryam fell in love with her craft, and has been a working actor and model since.
Maryam’s recent credits include “FBI International,” “The Chi,” “Chicago PD,” “Empire,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and “Holiday Heartbreak,” in which she won ‘Best Actress in an Independent Film’ for the HAPA Awards. Currently, she stars in the film “To Live and Die and Live” which premiered at Sundance 2023, opposite Omari Hardwick.
In addition to her acting career, Maryam is an entrepreneur. Just this summer she launched “Maryam Beauty,” a new brand of innovative cosmetics. With a passion for beauty and a focus on enhancing eyebrows, Maryam‘s line offers high-quality products for individuals to express their unique style and boost their confidence.
She continues to inspire others with her diverse talents and commitment to making a positive impact. In Michigan, Maryam founded a 501c3 nonprofit organization called NOiR Diamonds, empowering young girls ages 8-14.
