This season the talented Deji LaRay Jumped into storytelling and wrote all the seasons episodes.
From a young age, LaRay always knew he wanted to be an artist. He loved to draw and write. At around 9 years old, he began expressing that creativity through theaters around Atlanta, where he was eventually introduced to a New York City agent.
Traveling back and forth for auditions, LaRay performed on Broadway at the young age of 13 and trained with the Alliance Theater and the Youth Ensemble of Atlanta. After graduating high school, LaRay took his talents to Los Angeles where he received a BA in Film and TV from Cal State Los Angeles, studying directing and filmmaking to hone his skills all around. Along with his classmates, he created multiple projects outside of school that won awards at various film festivals. Because of this, LaRay was nominated in 2016 as Cal State’s Alumni of The Year.
Although LaRay has his hands full with “Johnson,” he can also be seen starring in seasons 2 and 3 of the Prime Video series “Age of the Living Dead,” which follows an apocalyptic United States that has been divided between humans and vampires, each threatening to wipe out the other race.
LaRay can also be seen appearing in all seven seasons of Prime Video‘s hit drama “BOSCH” as Officer Edgewood.
Aries from UB spoke to creator, actor and EP of “Johnson” Deji LaRay, about what motivated him to create the series and what his character Gregg brings to the group of friends.
LaRay also talks about what it’s like to work with the incredible cast and why people should tune-in.
