The UB Interview: Kelly Price Talks À La Carte + Music

We already know the legendary Grammy nominated Kelly Price as an amazing songwriter and singer, however she’s also an actress, an author, a motivational speaker and recently expanded her roles in film and television production, where she’ll be seen on camera and stages, but also behind the camera as well.

The future for this multitalented creative promises to be more exciting and more “booked” than ever! She’s currently a cast member of “À La Carte,” a new millennial dating dramedy series on ALLBLK.

The 6-episode scripted series premiered May 12th and airs weekly on Thursdays. The season finale will stream today Thursday June 16th.

À La Carte is centered around the Black millennial dating experience and one girl’s journey to the place she never thought she’d end up – on the side.

Additional cast includes Pauline Dyer, Courtney Burrell, Jessie Woo, Kendall Kyndall, Kandi Burruss, Robinne Lee, Dorien Wilson, Nazanin Mandi and more.

Created by Breanna Hogan, the series is directed and executive produced by Dijon Talton and The Talton Company. Hogan also serves as executive producer, alongside Meagan Good and Katrina Y. Nelson (ALLBLK’s Lace) for The Talton Company, and Christopher O’Conner in association with Prodigi Arts Entertainment. Angela White serves as producer. Brett Dismuke and Nikki Love serve as executive producers for ALLBLK.

Multitalented songstress, Kelly Price has been humming melodies in her crib at 9 months old and began displaying advanced abilities by the age of 3 in church. Nicknamed as “Little Mahlia” by her teachers in elementary school, she has been “checking mics” and dropping jaws with the sound of her voice ever since.

For three decades this 9X Grammy nominated award winning singer, songwriter and producer has continued to fill our ears and hearts by sharing her voice, her pen, or both to icons such as the late George Michael, Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, Elton John, Faith Evans, Wynona Judd, The Isley Brothers, Puff Daddy, Bonnie Raitt, The Notorious BIG, Karen Clark-Sheard, Brian Mc Knight, Kanye West, Wynona Judd, The Late Great Whitney Houston, the Queen of Soul herself Aretha Franklin and the list goes on.

With philanthropy always at the center of her heart, Kelly has worked tirelessly, advocated for, and raised millions of dollars for breast cancer research and treatments especially for women of color and other underserved communities for years.

The multifaceted starlet is continuously making an imprint and building a legacy.

Aries from UB recently caught up with one of our favorites Kelly Price to talk about “À La Carte.” Kelly speaks on why she wanted to be apart of the series, how she uses her role in her real life with her children and what she enjoys most about working with the cast.

KP also talks music and what she’s currently focused on with her imprint Sang Girl! Plus for Black Music Month, Kelly tells us her 3 essential R&B albums and shares with UB, what motivates her and more!
