Stokley Drops Futuristic ‘Cascade’ Visual feat. The Bonfyre | Announces April Album Release
Today multi-GRAMMY nominated singer, songwriter and producer Stokley has released his new single “Cascade” feat. R&B songstress The Bonfyre. The track is produced by Stokley and written by the hit writing duo/artists Shakespeare! The single was the #1 most added single on the UAC charts.
The single is infused with the purest form of R&B music and with a fresh twist reminiscent of great duets by the likes of Prince & Sheila E., Babface & Toni Braxton, Rick James & Tina Marie, Alexander O’Neil & Cherrelle, Deborah Cox & RL among others.
The new visual, shows Stokley showing off his acting chops. Directed by Josh Sikkema, it takes a futuristic look at love, breakups, and makeups. The video premiered this morning on BETher, BETSoul, and BET.com.
Stokley’s sophomore album “Sankofa” will be available on April 5th via a partnership deal with Bluraffe and Legendary hit-making team Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis’ Flytyme/Perspective Records.
We talked to Stokley at last years Soul Train Awards press day and asked him about the new single. Which we felt had a Prince/Minneapolis sound to it. Stokley confirmed the Prince influence and says it’s represented through-out his upcoming album “Sankofa.”
Stokley said about the new single; “This Cascade has a feeling, like the 80s. It’s about getting back to that sweet spot, in love and relationships.” He went on to say; “It’s like when you’ve lost it, someone has said some things that they didn’t really mean. You have to go back and look at everything and be like, you know what? Let’s just get back to this part…I don’t know how it got so off track. It’s just about letting that love flow, and that can be in anyway. It doesn’t have to be in a love relationship, it can be in any way that you think about it. It’s my offering to you, but you can interpret it anyway you want.”

The lead single from “Sankofa” “She” garnered two weeks at #1 on the Billboard Urban Adult Contemporary Chart. The follow-up smash with Snoop Dogg “Vibrant“, has also made waves.
Stokley is best known as the former lead singer and studio drummer of the legendary band, Mint Condition. In 2017, he launched his solo career with the release of Introducing Stokley, producing Billboard and Mediabase top 5 UAC hits “Level” and “Organic.”
In 2019, after partnering with celebrated music veterans Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis via his deal through Bluraffe, Stokley received his first #1 single with the infectious song “She.”
In addition to all his current accolades, Stokley has worked with artists like Prince (who was instrumental in Stokley going solo), Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Frank Ocean, Wale, Alicia Keys, Robert Glasper, Jazmine Sullivan, Toni Braxton, Kelly Price and more adding to the soundtrack and legacy of the R&B and Hip Hop genre.
