Stokley has released his new fire single, “Cascade. The single is from his upcoming album release “Sankofa” and features The Bonfyre.

The album will be released this Spring, via Jimmy Jam and Terry LewisPerspective label. The album is also being released through Stokley‘s imprint Blueraffe.

We talked to Stokley at last years Soul Train Awards press day and asked him about the new single. Which we felt had a Prince/Minneapolis sound to it. Stokley confirmed the Prince influence and says it’s represented through-out his upcoming album “Sankofa.”

Stokley said about the new single; “This Cascade has a feeling, like the 80s. It’s about getting back to that sweet spot, in love and relationships.” He went on to say; “It’s like when you’ve lost it, someone has said some things that they didn’t really mean. You have to go back and look at everything and be like, you know what? Let’s just get back to this part…I don’t know how it got so off track. It’s just about letting that love flow, and that can be in anyway. It doesn’t have to be in a love relationship, it can be in any way that you think about it. It’s my offering to you, but you can interpret it anyway you want.

“Don’t let our love wash away
It’s not just easy come easy go
It’s a waterfall of pure emotion, baby
Hypnotic patterns like kaleidoscopes
Don’t let our love wash away
Let our love Cascade”

The lead single from his new album “She” garnered two weeks at #1 on the Billboard Urban Adult Contemporary Chart. The follow-up smash with Snoop DoggVibrant“, has also made waves.
