James Fortune Earns 12th #1 Billboard Single | Ties with Kirk Franklin for Most Gospel Airplay #1s
GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer James Fortune is celebrating his 7th #1 Billboard Gospel single as an artist, with “Nobody Like Jesus” featuring beloved artist Lisa Knowles Smith.
Topping the charts once again further solidifies James Fortune as a mainstay in the gospel music industry. On top of that, he is now tied with Kirk Franklin for the highest number of gospel airplay #1’s.
Featured on Fortune’s album, “Dream Again: Live From Rock City,” the single “Nobody Like Jesus” featuring Lisa Knowles-Smith undoubtedly pulls listeners up or pushes them forward to a place of purpose and possibility.
James Fortune shared with Billboard, “I am in awe of God and humbled that He continues to choose me. I am thankful for God’s favor on my life and I don’t take any of it for granted.” He added additionally, “As grateful as I am for this #1 song; I am overwhelmed to think there are now 12 #1 songs that He’s given me as a writer, artist or feature. It’s simple for me: I am on an assignment to tell the world about a man who knows all your flaws, but still loves you, will use you and has plans for you, in spite of it all. That’s reason enough to Dream Again!”
Last year UB spoke to James Fortune and asked him what he wanted people to get out of “Dream Again after they listen to it? “When people listen to this project, I want them to leave realizing that God still has big plans for their life.” He went on to say; “Of course there are songs of worship and songs of praise and songs that just just make you feel good about yourself and your day. Not so much because of who you are, but because of who God is and how awesome and special he is. I think this album is going to help everyone learn that it’s not too late and you can still make it happen. You can still obtain those dreams will achieve those goals. If you can just trust God and believe, that’s what it’s all about. Believing in God and believing in yourself, it can happen.”
