K-Ci‘s son Devin Hailey recently released his new single and visual, “Kick It 2 U.”
As the nephew of JoJo Hailey, Devin holds the torch high in a dynamic furtherance of the level of artistry that has come out of the JT Entertainment label this year. With JoJo Hailey kicking off the year with his hit “Special,” the Hailey family got it in early for 2020.
Devin‘s natural born talent shines through in his new single, which was inspired by old fashioned romance and love. Devin wrote “Kick It 2 U” after learning about the death of a loved one; not thinking he’d be in the studio that day, he decided that the best way to channel all of his restless energy would be to write a song that delivers an overwhelming sense of positivity and love.
In this UB Q&A, Devin Hailey talks about his new single, working with his legendary family, career goals and more.

UrbanBridgez.com: Congratulations on the release of your new single “Kick it 2 U,” what made you decide to release that song first?
Devin Hailey: Thank you. It just felt right. It’s a very feel good song and I think the world needs it.
UrbanBridgez.com: What would you say is your overall vibe of your music?
Devin Hailey: That’s a hard question to answer. I have so many different styles and im very versatile so you never know what youre gonna get from me. Just know the vibe will always be authentic and original.
UrbanBridgez.com: What influences have you taken from your uncle?
Devin Hailey: Uncle JoJo pushes me to be the best version of myself I can be both in and out of the studio. I can’t thank him enough for that.
UrbanBridgez.com: Who have you been working with for your first project?
Devin Hailey: Besides “Kick It 2 U” which Mike Smoove and Blaq Rose co-produced, have a few projects streaming now on all platforms. They’ve all solely been produced by my partner Phaze Wun and they also feature appearances from the JTEntertainment roster such as Blaq Rose, Sakoya Wynter and my uncle JoJo Hailey.
UrbanBridgez.com: When can fans expect the next release from you?
Devin Hailey: Right now I’m putting all my focus on “Kick It 2 U” but you can follow my Instagram for exclusive freestyles, vlogs and more content.
UrbanBridgez.com: Tell us the story of learning about the death of a loved one, while recording in the studio?
Devin Hailey: It was a hard day and I really had no plan to record anything that day but when the team called me to come and work I showed up and we ended up “Kick It 2 U”. The rest is history as they say.
UrbanBridgez.com: What are your overall career goals?
Devin Hailey: My main goal is to be recognized for my lyrical ability and my writing skills of course the accolades and awards would be nice but I want to go down as one if the best ever by all means necessary.
UrbanBridgez.com: Who are some of your favorite artists to listen to?
Devin Hailey: Outside of the JTEntertainment family im a huge fan and supporter of traditional NY rap music.
UrbanBridgez.com: With the pandemic and upcoming election, do you have any words of encouragement for us all?
Devin Hailey: Just to keep your eye on the ball and don’t get too wrapped up in things that are out of your control. Maintain focus keep a level head and spend as much time with family.
UrbanBridgez.com: Anything else you would like to leave with your fans?
Devin Hailey: Just a huge thank you for all the support they have given the team throughout this whole year. We put a lot of work in and we are humbled and thankful that the people are enjoying it.
