Bootsy Collins Releases New Single ‘The Power Of The One’ | Album Tracklist: George Benson, Snoop Dogg + More
Bootsy Collins is set to release his 10th studio album “The Power Of The One” on October 23rd, via SW4/Sweetwater Sounds.
The new album features guest appearances by George Benson, Snoop Dogg, Bradford Marsalis and a host of others.
UB has your First Look at the Tracklist. Today, Bootsy released the first single for the title track, which features on Guitars: George Benson and on Keyboards: Brian Culbertson.
“Funk just brings people together, from the ground up,” Bootsy told The Guardian. “It doesn’t have nothing to do with color. It has nothing to do with status. It just brings you to ‘the one’, and the one thing that we all have in common is that we all just want to live. That’s what it’s really all about. It’s making something from nothing, like me.” .
“People are so status-obsessed and they just don’t realize that we are all the same, that this whole Earth is our mother-ship and we’re all on board,” Booty continued. “You can laugh if you want to, because I’ve been laughed at before, but none of that means anything to me any more. What means something is that we all get a chance to get heard and that we help each other out. We’re all funky, just not all of us know it.”

“The Power of the One Album is in honor of my friend, our P-Funk engineer, Mr. Jim Vitti, whom we lost on April 30, 2020. His expertise & fearless exploration helped expand our goals & broaden how we looked at a Funkless World that saw us as just Nasty.
Jim on the other hand saw fertilizer, so he helped nurture the Sound that would eventually feed the planet. Funkateers & non-Funkateers were & still are starving for a voice & sounds that should be universal to us all.

Bootsy has also released the recent charity single, “Stars” which features, a sample of the great Cornel West talking powerfully on CNN, in the wake of the murder of George Floyd.
All proceeds from the streams and downloads go to the MusiCares Covid-19 relief fund.
