Maejor Releases Long-Overdue Debut Album ‘Vol 1: Frequency’

Singer/Producer Maejor AKA Brandon Green has released his debut album, “Vol 1: Frequency” via Virgin EMI.

Maejor is someone UB has been following since 2011 and the release of his single “Trouble” featuring J. Cole. We interviewed him and asked him then how did it feel to finally be getting his shine. After working with artists behind the scenes. He shared then; “It’s exciting because I’ve had all these ideas in my head forever. And some were to write for other people and create new styles and things for people to except.Maejor went on to say, “So finally being able to let the world hear it, is just cool. It’s more personal of my own feelings, my own expressions and my own thoughts. So that’s the most exciting part.

Now 9 years later he is finally released his first full-length album release. Vol 1: Frequency was inspired using sound frequencies to help treat ailments including insomnia, anxiety, depression and Parkinson’s disease around the world.

Maejor says; “One of my favorite quotes is from Nikola Tesla, “if you wish to understand the universe- think of energy, frequency, and vibration“. The purpose of this project is to introduce people to healing frequencies. The best way to do this was to make music that has the same vibe as what they are listening to right now and tune the song to 432Hz. So regardless of the lyrics or beat- the healing frequency can have a positive impact on the person listening to my music.

One of the album collaborations “Issues (432Hz)” with Juicy J is a funk-laced slow jam, bearing all the hallmarks of Maejor’s trademark style. The sophisticated production and smooth as silk vocal from Maejor lead into a blistering verse from Juicy J. The accompanying video will be premiered on Paper on May 5th.

The album also includes, previous single, “Thank You (432Hz),” the Reggae-tinged balled “So Beautiful (432Hz)” and the hit-single “I Love You (432Hz)” (with Greeicy), which is currently a Top 10 airplay single in France.

A Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, rapper and producer from Detroit. Maejor has written and produced for Justin Bieber, Trey Songz, Keri Hilson, Ciara, T- Pain, Ne-Yo and Wiz Khalifa and is part of the alternative electronic-pop duo AREA 21 alongside Dutch superstar DJ Martin Garrix.

UB asked Maejor in 2011; Out of all of the artists you have worked with, who would you say were the most challenging, not because of anything personal or ego related but as far as trying to create the perfect tracks to fit them?
That’s a good question, a really good question. You guys created a question I’ve never heard. Ummm, maybe Wiz (Khalifa). I did a song on his album and because he’s creative like me and he knows what he likes & what he doesn’t like. I did “Rooftops” featuring Curren$y, so when we did the song I just really wanted to bring him something different and he loved it & it worked out cool. But I really didn’t want to give him something regular, so that was a challenge for me. Shout out to Wiz, that’s the homey!

The young artist’s battle with a rare form of leukaemia has also inspired him to give back by developing a new partnership with the American Cancer Society. CML is a rare blood cancer that affects less than 200,000 people per year in the US. Luckily, Maejor is being treated and is on a mission to use his influence to educate his fans and young people on how important it is to take care of their health and that cancer doesn’t discriminate.

The album follows a string of chart successes for Maejor, including hit single “Lolly” featuring Justin Bieber & Juicy J, which peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and “Vai Malandra,” his collaboration with Brazilian superstar Anitta, which reached the #1 spot on the Brazilian charts as well as #18 at the Global Spotify chart.
