Tyler Jacob Covers Aaliyah Classic & Announces Next Single Release
We first introduced you to Camden, NJ native Tyler Jacob in late 2011, when he originally released his debut EP “Face II Face.” Over the years he’s become one of our favorite newcomers at UB.
This week he has announced the release of his new rendition of Ed Sheeran‘s hit single “Dive.” To be released New Years Eve on December 31st.
Yesterday he showed love to the late great Aaliyah, with rendition of her 1994 classic, “Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number.”
Tyler‘s a singer/songwriter who got his start in the industry after being discovered by Kempire Records in NYC. At the age of 5 years old, Tyler Jacob started singing and performing in school plays. It wasn’t until his freshmen year in high school did he realize others thought he had a gift when he was accidentally placed in a choir class. “The choir teacher asked me to sing, so she could classify my voice” Tyler shared. The rest is history. After the choir teacher heard Tyler‘s voice, she had him transferred to Creative Arts High School (CAHS) in Camden, New Jersey.
Tyler‘s passion to sing, write and perform his own music, in English and Spanish, pushed him after he graduated from CAHS to move to NYC to pursue his singing career. He signed to record label, Kempire Records, as well signed to their management team, Kempire Media Group shortly after he released his first single Cry No More, followed by Face II Face, which Tyler co-wrote with songwriter, Skydiver in NYC. Tyler Jacob toured the east coast performing on major stages across the US, opened up for Grammy Award winner, Brandy, and logged studio time with Carvin & Ivan (Chris Brown, Musiq Soul child, Mario), and Andrea Martin (Leona Lewis, Monica, Mary J. Blige).
Tyler continued to pursue his artistic ventures, in 2014, debuting his acting skills in Sikora‘s Hit Film “Egg of Darkness“. Late 2016, Tyler was flown to Atlanta where he was handpicked to be a season 1 of VH1’s “SIGNED,”with moguls Rick Ross, Lenny S. The Dream. After returning from Atlanta Tyler‘s desire to explore the fashion world led him to partnering with his late fiancé Michael Mann, a well-known celebrity creative director who passed away due to suicide in 2018, and co-styling under the name TYxMANN which was very successful and allowed him the opportunity to work with some big names in the Industry including Saweetie, Noland Gould, Ariel Winter, Taryn Manning, Lil Mama, Christina Milian, Melanie Fiona, Chante’ Moore, his idol Brandy Norwood and legendary girl group En Vogue and many more.
In January 2019, he became the face of hip-hop street fashion living legend Karl Kani‘s vintage clothing line (likes of Aaliyah, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, P. Diddy) as well as currently Freelance Models for True Religion. He recently appeared on Grindr‘s national Valentine‘s Day “Be Your Own Cupid” campaign where he speaks up on being an advocate for self-love, continuing life after losing a loved one, and being an advocate for suicide prevention.
Earlier this year Tyler announced his return to music by producing his very own headlining show at the legendary Rockwood Music Hall.
