#NewMusicFriday Lil Mosey’s ‘Bust Down Cartier’
At only 17-years-old, Lil Mosey has proven that talent and drive can push you to reach your dreams regardless of how old you are.
The Seattle rapper dropped out of high school to pursue a music career after his track, “Pull Up”, garnered millions of plays.
While considered a risky move to many, the decision to leave a formal education behind has resulted in a career that is constantly growing. He’s toured with Juice WRLD and YBN Cordae, charted on Billboard Hot 100, and scored a record deal, reaching #20 on the album charts with his major label debut.
“My sound is more like the new era, melodic rapping,” Lil Mosey said to Billboard.” It’s hard to explain. You can maybe compare it to some others, like how it sounds, but not how good it is. It doesn’t sound like anybody.”
Lil Mosey’s fast introduction to fame didn’t allow for a training period: fans have passed out after meeting him, sold-out crowds sing his lyrics back to him, and he can’t go out in public without being recognized.
After “Pull Up”, the MC followed it up with “Noticed”, his first track to hit the Billboard charts, peaking at #80 and becoming certified Gold for 500,000 combined sales.
Both tracks live on Northsbest, Lil Mosey’s debut album, released in October 2018. The 11-song project puts the rapper front-and-centre, with only one feature from BlocBoy JB on “Yoppa”.
If 2018 was a big year for the teenage star, 2019 is poised to be even more gigantic. He’s coming out swinging with his latest hit, “Bust Down Cartier”, already racking up millions of plays.
