In support of the film, UrbanBridgez.com spoke with veteran actress Erica Hubbard and Paris Phillips, who’s making her debut in “Fall Girls.” We talked to them about their involvement in the film, why everyone should watch and Erica Hubbard breaks news on “Black Coffee 2.”
UrbanBridgez.com: How did you get involved with the film “Fall Girls?”
Erica Hubbard: I was vacationing in Chicago, as I always do for the summer months. I received a call from my agent about a film that was a comedy and he thought it would be perfect for me to film in LA. The production team was looking hard for an actress to play Tyra. I read the script Fall Girls and then told my agent I would like to fly into LA, to portray Tyra because it’s a funny movie!Paris Phillips: My agent sent the info my way, I liked to the role. Then I went on to audition. They liked what they saw, after I auditioned for the role and it started from there.
UrbanBridgez.com: Tell us about your character Keke.
Paris Phillips: Keke is off a little bit. She’s like 32 years old, but with her mental she’s like 17. She tries to just fit in and get attention. She’s all over the place. Keke is funny though, she has a good heart.UrbanBridgez.com: What if any were any difficult moments for you, specially Paris being this was your first movie?
Erica Hubbard: There weren’t any difficulties being Tyra, because I fell in love portraying this character!Paris Phillips: I was nervous. The only difficult part was getting on set. Like the night before where you’re trying on clothes and then you see your trailer. I had all of these butterflies, but as soon as they said action; it was on and poppin! I’m always nervous at first like that. Even when I shoot other stuff, I be so nervous but once I see the camera, it’s go time. It’s like then, there’s no turning back. It’s like the butterflies start going down once they put the mic on me. I also call people when I’m nervous, so I can just get advice.
UrbanBridgez.com: The cast is incredible, tell me about how you enjoyed working with them?
Erica Hubbard: It was very cool to work with all the ladies in a bunch of fun scenes. Our laughing scenes are real and not fake, because the story-line is that funny!Paris Phillips: Everybody was real cool. Like any questions I may have had, I could ask anyone. They all knew it was my first film and I was getting my cherry popped, so they were taking it easy with me. My big sis Tami Roman is in the movie, so anytime I had an issue with anything I would just pull her aside or send a text. She would be like, you got this! So that’s like my big sister in real life so anytime I was nervous I would just go to her. She was like my security blanket. So seeing her and her being apart of it, I was like yes! She would tell me, it’s okay to ask questions. Everybody on the cast and Chris Stokes, Marques Houston, J- Boog, are just really good people and were very nice.
UrbanBridgez.com: What was the best part about doing this film for you?
Erica Hubbard: The best part of filming Fall Girls was working with talented cast of women and the director as well as the producers. Everyone had fun filming and the energy was great on set! The locations are beautiful in the movie and I think the viewers are going to like the scenery, story-line and enjoy watching.Paris Phillips: All of it! But the best part to me, was seeing my trailer. My very first trailer and to see my characters name on the chair, was it for me. I just felt like wow this is real, it was a feeling that I can’t really explain. But yeah my first trailer, I will remember that forever.
UrbanBridgez.com: Why should everyone watch it tonight on BET?
Erica Hubbard: Everyone should watch & support because it’s great to support woman-driven story-lines. It doesn’t happen that much for us where most of the cast is female. Plus, Fall Girls is a movie that will put everyone in a really good mood because of the story-line!Paris Phillips: Everybody should watch because it’s good, it’s funny. It’s like Weekend at Bernie’s meets Girls Trip. It’s about sisterhood, working together and full of laughs. It’s a really good movie, that everyone could watch. Like you can watch with the kids, it’s a real positive movie.
UrbanBridgez.com: What’s next for you?
Paris Phillips: You know, just more. Just trying to do more movies. I’m taking more acting classes and doing more auditions. So I’m just trying to stay…stay woke you feel me!Erica Hubbard: I just finished a movie that’s releasing this year called Perfectly Single. In which I play a doctor and it also stars Joe Torry and Omar Gooding. With a full wonderful talented cast. I am happy to announce the entire cast from the film Black Coffee is getting ready to film Black Coffee 2! Thanks to everyone who has supported my career and made me feel loved on social media and who watch all my work!
