UB Reviews: ‘Empire’ & ‘STAR’ Return Tonight on FOX
Tonight on Empire, Nurse Claudia (guest star Demi Moore) takes her job to a new level, when she kidnaps Lucious (Terrence Howard). To find him, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) must race against time and use the skills she learned in prison to rescue him. Meanwhile, Andre (Trai Byers), Jamal (Jussie Smollett) and Hakeem (Bryshere “Yazz” Gray) pick up the pieces from their battle with the Dubois family in the all-new “Birds in the Cage” spring premiere episode.
UB Review: Tonight’s episode also continues to include more scenes on Cookie‘s incarceration. We’ve seen a lot of flashbacks, however tonights episode answers a lot of questions that have not been answered before now. Becky and Porsha are two gems on the Empire cast and on tonight’s episode, they provide lots of comedy relief (preview below). With the Lyons it all leads back to the music, and that is a key element in tonights episode.
Tonight on STAR, Carlotta (Queen Latifah) is devastated after the fire that resulted in someone’s death. As she tries to recover, her mother, Miss Christine (guest star Patti LaBelle), and sister, Cassie (guest star Brandy Norwood), unexpectedly show up. Meanwhile, Star (Jude Demorest) struggles to hide her jealousy and feelings for Noah (Luke James), while Gigi (guest star Keke Palmer) decides to do “Take 3” a favor that could put them back on the map in the all-new “Rise From The Ashes” spring premiere episode of STAR.
UB Review: STAR is without a doubt one of the best shows on TV. Tonight with the introduction of Patti LaBelle and Brandy, it makes the series even better. We’ve never seen Patti in a role like this and she delivers! Brandy has this acting game on lock. A true actress who has seen her share of roles. However, you haven’t seen Brandy as Cassie before. One of the best scenes of tonight’s episode is one of the last with Latifah and Brandy. Keke Palmer kicks the episode off with a fire performance. Another highlight on this episode is Luke James, who performs one of the best R&B cuts recorded by Donell Jones “Where I Wanna Be” & kills it (listen below)!
