UrbanBridgez.com recently spoke with Gary Hines director of Sounds of Blackness and asked him who came up with the creative concept for the video, “The treatment originated with yours truly, but with input from our great director Craig Rice. Who goes all the way back to the “Purple Rain” movie, who’s managed Prince. Who’s also directed other Sounds of Blackness videos, including the classic “Soul Holidays.” Also ideas came from the man who actually shot the video, Karl Demer who’s a multi-talented music producer here at Atomic K Recording studios.”
The release of their new CD “The Sounds Of Blackness” released last month, consequently coincides with 40th Anniversary of the group’s inception and the 20th anniversary celebration of the of their classic single “Optimistic.” Which was performed recently by gospel duo Mary Mary at this years Black Girls Rock on BET!
