Keke Palmer Preps New Album & New Films
Interscope Recording artist and award-winning actress Keke Palmer just may be the busiest 17-year-old girl in America in 2011. Establishing herself as one of the fastest rising stars of her generation, Palmer will continue to star in the title role of the Nickelodeon sitcom “True Jackson, VP” while simultaneously shooting a movie musical, producing and starring in a second feature film, and performing voiceover characters in both a major animated motion picture and a new animated television series. Additionally, in anticipation of her sophomore album which Interscope will release later this year, Keke has already produced a video for her song “The One You Call.”
The three-time NAACP Image Award winner and Kids’ Choice Award nominee for Favorite TV Actress is currently filming Joyful Noise starring Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton and Palmer. Keke plays the daughter of Latifah in the story centered on a small-town gospel choir. She will also be featured on the soundtrack for the movie from the Blindside producers scheduled for release via Warner Bros. in early 2012. For Ice Age: Continental Drift, the fourth film in the blockbuster Ice Age animated series from Fox, set for summer 2012, Palmer will voice the role of Peaches, a young woolly mammoth. Also on tap Ragz, a music-oriented Nickelodeon teen movie, that Keke is both starring in and producing, which is targeted for a 2012 premiere.
In addition, she will record this year the voice of Keisha, one of the magical fairies in the Nickelodeon animated action and fantasy series “Winx Club,” a hugely popular franchise with young girls worldwide that will debut in 2012 with new episodes in the U.S. Set in the mystical dimension of Magix where three schools educate modern fairies, witches and supernatural warriors from around the universe, “Winx Club” first aired in Italy six years ago and became an international phenomenon.
Palmer’s breakthrough portrayal of Akeelah Anderson in the sleeper hit Akeelah and The Bee won her an Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture in 2006. In 2010, she won for the second time for Best Actress in a Children’s Television Show for “True Jackson, VP.” Keke Palmer remains in the record books as the youngest actor to ever be nominated by the Screen Actors Guild in a lead actor category.
