Meet Roc Nation’s ‘Range’
J. Cole isn’t Roc Nation‘s only shining star. Raised in Hartford, CT Range has been hard at work on his debut album, No Strings, which is set for an early 2011 release. Between studio sessions with the likes of Ne-Yo and Ryan Leslie, the Stargate protégé shot his first music video alongside rapper Rick Ross. Check out a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming visual for his first single, “Ghetto Dance.”
Range moved to New York City after graduating from College with a business degree. Having written songs for Jamie Foxx, Ludacris and T-Pain (“Download’), the twenty-four year old also collaborated with Diddy on a Danity Kane track.
Musically, Range is into everything from Whitney Houston to Elvis. He explains, “First I was into rap, but when I was twelve I began taking saxophone lessons. From that point, it was all about my music.” In addition, he is also working with Ne-Yo and Ryan Leslie.
Constantly inspired, Range attributes his love of poetry to his dad as well. “He bought me a poetry book called Light in the Attic that turn me into the power of language”.
