BET to Honor DMX with Tribute at ‘BET Awards’ + DJ Cassidy’s ‘Pass The Mic’ Awards Edition
DMX is set to receive a tribute, like no other at this Sunday‘s BET Awards.
The tribute is being curated by producer Swizz Beatz, who had a longstanding friendship with the late musician, and will include standout performances from Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Swizz Beatz, Griselda and a special appearance by Michael K. Williams.
BET will celebrate the life and music of DMX from his early beginnings with iconic hip hop label, Ruff Ryders to now by debuting a new song from DMX’s upcoming posthumous album, “EXODUS.”

DMX inspired fans around the world with his signature raspy voice, the delivery of raw emotion through his lyrics and performances, and his giving spirit. Video choreographer and R&B and hip hop veteran Fatima Robinson will act as creative director and the tribute will include some of DMX’s iconic hits:

In celebration of the culture’s biggest night, DJ Cassidy will host “Pass The Mic: BET Awards Edition.” Premiering on Sunday, June 27th at 11:30 PM ET/PT, immediately following the 2021 “BET Awards.” In this edition of the acclaimed groundbreaking series, DJ Cassidy will pass the mic to a once-in-a-lifetime lineup of legendary Hip Hop and R&B artists to sing along to their most iconic, chart-topping records of the 2000s.
DJ Cassidy is breaking tradition by revealing the identities of several of the artists to whom will be passing the mic during this epic night of celebration. Cassidy has exclusively confirmed that he will pass the mic to Ashanti, Ja Rule, Nelly, Akon, Kelis, Fat Joe, Fabolous, Sean Paul, and over a dozen other surprise iconic guests who have profoundly impacted the culture over the last two decades.
“This edition of Pass The Mic will be the greatest party of all time and will celebrate the greatest party records ever made,” says Cassidy. “The artists I’ve united for this special have inspired, transformed, and defined the culture for the last two decades.
