The UB Interview: Ledisi Talks ‘Good Life,’ Touring + ‘The Truth’

For 10 albums, over the span of 17 years, Ledisi selflessly gave you pieces of her–wholeheartedly. Soul bare…arms wide…in full embrace of a feeling… a sonic medium and empath for what you were going through together, Ledisi carried you on every note.

Eyes closed…from hum to moan to raw to perfect pitch and back, Ledisi captured the soundtrack of your circumstance like a friend in your head who loved you through your “it” and accepted you for your “mess” because she knew that the best is yet to come for the both of you. And for all that you have been through, having been lost and found, turned loose, faced the depth of truth, gave in and allowed love to rule, or just took a chance to live wild and take a break from societal expectations, at this point in the journey one deserves to have a good life.

Ledisi’s 11th album, “Good Life,” is an amalgamation of her talent and experience. Talent aside, her experiences serve as the foundation for stretching herself as a storyteller.

Alongside Rex Rideout, Grammy-nominated producer, songwriter, arranger, and friend, creating each song was predicated upon the ability to give Ledisi’s fans an existential experience.

“Good Life” features Ledisi’s Billboard #1 adult R&B hit, “I Need To Know,” the soul-stirring single, “Sell Me No Dreams,” and fan favorite “Perfect Strangers” featuring Kenny Lattimore, offering a taste of the rich tapestry awaiting listeners on the album.
