R&B vocalist Leela James has a voice as smooth as butter, so when she revealed her latest album would be in sorts a tribute album to the late great Etta James…the anticipation for the release grew even stronger. If anybody could do Etta justice it would be Leela. She proved us right!

What we did was because she has so much material, just went through her songs and picked out some familiar ones at first like At Last.Leela told UrbanBridgez.comAnd then we choose records that wasn’t too familiar to the masses but were good songs lyric wise.

She did the damn thing! On songs like “Damn Your Eyes” Leela jumped in full spirit of Etta and even to a point added some Prince flavor to the mix. On “Old School Kind of Love,” the production of the track is flawless mixed in with Leela’s incredible vocals. Other highlight tracks from the album include “I’m Loving You More Everyday” & of course Etta’s biggest hit “At Last.”

Overall this album is a great addition to any music collection built with soul, funk and dance. Leela found the spirit of Etta and showcased it beautifully. Etta would be proud and so will you!

Nice review. It does leave you wanting more. For a cover project, she is getting a lot of postive feedback.
