The lovely Teedra Moses took the stage last night in NYC at a very posh spot called City Winery. Known for their “sweet tasting wine,” City Winery can now add “sweet tasting soul music” to their menu thanks to Teedra Moses blessing the stage yesterday.

Teedra Moses (for those of you who may not know) is one of R&B/Soul music’s hidden treasures. She has been on the scene for a minute and will now most likely be brought to the masses since signing with Rick Ross’ MMG music label. The exposure from one of Hip-Hop’s hottest MC’s should definitely do the trick and introduce Teedra to an entire new audience. For those of us who have known, followed and supported Teedra since the beginning; we kind of want to keep her all to ourselves…but that just wouldn’t be fair to the talented singer/songwriter.

Teedra started the 60+ minute set on a high-note and definitely ended it the same. Although a glass of Hennessy usually accompanies Teedra onstage, last night she opted for a cup of tea. The lack of alcohol didn’t subdue Ms. Moses as she rocked out back and forth across the stage and even dipped it low. She took her fans (new and old alike) through her new mixtape Luxurious Undergrind, and sung “Another Luvr” & “Invitation.” Teedra then segued to her debut album Complex Simplicity singing a string of hits including fan favorite “Take Me.” Although Raphael Sadiq wasn’t present to perform his half of the duet, Teedra’s solo background male singer filled in and definitely delivered on this smash song. Mid-way through the show, Teedra performed several new songs including “Incredible” and “War 4 Luv.” The crowded rock back and forth as we definitely co-signed the new material from The Lioness.

Teedra closed the show with the seductive “Backstroke” from Complex Simplicity and then returned to the stage for an encore performance from the huge crowd that thirsted for more and more. Rather than singing another one of her original tracks, Teedra did a rendition of “Hollywood.”

Someone asked me who does Teedra Moses sound like and I answered, “she sounds like Teedra Moses.” Definitely in a lane of her own, this is one singer/songwriter that you definitely want to witness live if you are a fan of G.O.O.D and REAL music. Period.
