Last night in NYC, Leela James tore down the house at the Highline ballroom. Despite a rain thunderstorm earlier in the evening, the clouds definitely parted as the skies cleared to the vocal prowess of soul music’s offspring Ms. Leela James. Paying tribute to great legends such as James Brown and Etta James, Leela took the crowd on a rollercoaster ride filled with many dips and loops of joy and happiness.

Some of the night’s highlights included (but were not limited to) her rendition of No Doubt‘s “Don’t Speak” and “This is a Man’s World” by James Brown. Leela is so talented in her showmanship, stage etiquette and live performance that many wonder how she remains so humble. Her spiritual background and church upbringing definitely keep her grounded and Leela definitely took the crowd to church with a hand-clapping, soul riveting music set.

Her tribute album “Loving You More…In The Spirit of Etta James” will be available July 31st and fans are definitely in store for a huge treat.
