Multi-platinum recording artist Brooke Valentine is gearing up to release her brand new album “Forever” later this year. Last night (6/18) her label Subliminal Entertainment held a release party for her new single “Don’t Wanna Be In Love” at RnB Live in Studio City, CA.
Brooke looked and sounded amazing during the 20 minute set. She came out to a live band and opened with her hit single “As Long As You Come Home,” which was the second single released from her debut album “Chain Letter.” During the performance Brooke proved one thing, she hasn’t lost those amazing vocals. Next Brooke went into a performance of Lauryn Hill‘s hit single “Ex Factor.” Brooke put her own lil stank on the tune and it worked perfectly as she hit every note and sounded as good as the original. At times her vocals were drowned out by the live band, but she maintained and killed the songs ending.
A few weeks ago a new song with Brooke and Tyrese hit the net entitled “Rub It In” and last night she performed it solo. One thing is for sure, this needs to be a future single! A song for the ladies as Brooke told the audience, she performed it with so much sass and attitude with those crisp vocals in tact. A definate ladies anthem could be on the way! Brooke from there went into her brand new single “Don’t Wanna Be In Love,” which samples the classic Isaac Hayes tune “Walk On By” and gave her best performance of the night. One thing we don’t understand is why she didn’t perform her biggest hit “Girlfight,” however with the show she gave and those powerful vocals, mixed in with the live band…she made up for it!
Check out pics below from the show. In the house for the event was Brooke’s Subliminal partner and child-hood friend Deja the Great, who’s responsible for her new single “Don’t Wanna Be In Love” and 90% of the songs on her upcoming release “Forever.” Other celebrities in the house included industry vet Ernie Singleton as well as comedians Deray Davis and Lunelle. Brooke was also interviewed by Ranella Ferrer for RnB Live.
