R&B Lost Trackz: Ray J ‘What I Need’ Darkchild Remix

In 2005, with the launch of Urban Bridgez Group. We had the pleasure of welcoming Ray J to our client list.

We helped with pre-album promotion for his album “Raydiation” and post album online promotion. Many people think his Atlantic project “This Ain’t a Game” is his biggest album. However “Raydiation” his first independent project, is in fact Ray J‘s biggest selling album, till this day.

Raydiation” was the third album of his career but, more importantly, the first he unleashed as the master of his own destiny via his own Knockout Entertainment company. That album contained the single that changed the entire direction of his career, the galvanizing ballad “One Wish“, marking his defiant state of liberation after two albums on “major” labels.

Billboard

As an independent artist, Ray J earned his first #1 single on the R&B charts with “One Wish” which helped push his “Raydiation” album over the 400,000 sales mark which is phenomenal for an indie release in today’s retail climate.

In January of 2006, Ray released the follow-up to the huge hit “One Wish,” the Rodney Jerkins penned “What I Need.” Although the song did not do as well as One Wish, it’s still a dope tune and Rodney Jerkins provided an even hotter remix that was never officially released.

Today apart of our new series R&B Lost Trackz, we spotlight it.

Check it out and take a trip back down the road of “Raydiation,” Ray J‘s best work to date.
