New Music Friday: Alex Da Kid & JØ$EPH ANGEL – Debut ‘American Funeral’

Today, Alex Da Kid & JØ$EPH ANGEL unleash a politically charged statement single entitled “American Funeral.”

American Funeral” shows another side of award-winning producer, songwriter, and KiDinaKORNER founder Alex Da Kid. It also shines a spotlight on Republic Records New Orleansborn and Houston-bred singer and songwriter JØ$EPH ANGEL known for co-writing Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain” and his solo debut “Empty Pack of Cigarettes” from the chart-dominating Fifty Shades Darker Official Soundtrack.

Alex constructs a haunting and hypnotic bluesy backdrop for JØ$EPH to deliver a powerful proclamation. Targeting police brutality and tensions in the United States, the song culminates on the provocative and poignant hook, “America, the beautiful. America, the murderer. America, the funeral. God bless America.”

As personally chosen by STAR co-creator Academy® Award and Golden Globe® nominee Lee Daniels (Empire), the song figures prominently in the jaw-dropping season finale, airing Wednesday, March 15 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

About the song, Alex comments, “We’re living in interesting times, and we’re all trying to make sense of those times. Who’s right and who’s wrong? What’s real and what’s fake? It all depends on your perspective. ‘American Funeral’ looks at the world from two points of view that don’t understand one another emotionally. I hope people feel both the fear and the hope. It’s all a part of our story.”

‘American Funeral’ represents the personal narrative from counter perspectives between the black community and law enforcement, while emphasizing the deep rooted racial divisions and generational mistrust that has violently plagued our nation,” JØ$EPH adds. “It’s brutally honest yet progressively insightful. ‘American Funeral’ sinks its teeth into our psychological fears, while begging for hope and understanding.”

A special remix of “American Funeral” featuring the STAR Cast will arrive very soon.
