UB Reviews: Jacob Latimore – ‘Connection’

We’ve been following Jacob Latimore since his debut and telling everyone to keep an eye out for him, because his skills can’t be denied. The boy is bad and his debut album proves that!

Jacob enters adult-hood on his debut album release “Connection” via his own imprint Jacob’s Ink. From start to finish, this album conquers maturity, good vibes, sexuality and just good old R&B.

On tracks like the lead single “The Real,” the party is sure to get started. Production on this joint is fire. Jacob’s lyrics are followed by a dope flow from IshDARR. Easily one of the best songs on the album.

On “Advertise It,” Jacob spits lyrics like “I know you wanna tell all your friends about me, but you don’t wanna say too much because you know that’s gonna mess us up. Girl you know you wanna advertise it.” The real talk anthem of the album. “Why you want to provoke these women? All love don’t deserve attention.”

Mutual” showcases ratchet Jacob (in a good way), we’ll leave it at that. Just know this is adult, not the teeny Jacob Latimore that debuted in 2005 with “Best Friend” or 2010’s “Like Em All” with Diggy Simmons. “Mutual” is the new single from the album and is sure to heat up radio midnight storms everywhere.

The album’s title cut the mid-tempo, “Connection” could be compared to one of Drake’s hot joints. With the mixture of Hip Hop and the smooth vocals of Mr. Latimore, it makes for one of the baby making records of 2017. One thing is for sure, Chris Brown and Trey Songz better watch out, little brother is coming up on a creep up.

Other strong tracks are “Remember Me”, which takes us back to classic R&B, you can’t ever go wrong there. “Risky,” is one of those sing along ballads, we can all relate to.

With this album release, this young man is on his way to greatness musically. Already a well-established actor, who can currently be seen in the new film with Will SmithCollateral Beauty.”
