UrbanBridgez.com: How did you decide how to incorporate films like The Conjuring, which was one of my favorite films last year in “A Haunted House 2” in a comedic way?

Marlon Wayans: Man when I first saw that movie, I’m not even going to lie to you, I was scared! So much so that the doll, I instantly thought it had to be in this film in a parody way. I was on an airplane scared like this thing may go down from that movie. I was like let me crack some jokes.

But for me it just has to be organic, me and my partner Rick just thought story-wise for Malcolm we were thinking that to step up from the first one, I think he has to be put upon. Now he thinks he’s entering this safer situation with this different family, in this different house. But the same demons are going to travel with you. Such as with life, if you don’t fix the problem, you can’t move on because things will get worse. So when things get worse here, hopefully things get funnier. So for Malcolm the doll was kind of like Keisha which represented the spirit. Everything that was in the house is haunted. The kid with the imaginary friend, the daughter and the box and literally his crazy ex-girlfriend moves next door and this creepy doll. He’s dealing with perfect storm of paranormal and it was just fun to watch it unravel. Like a crazy version of Jack Nicholson in The Shining. So we got it to that point, the only thing that I think I would have liked to do longer was have the progression of possession for Malcolm be a long one like The Amityville Horror, I think that would be a fun story.
