Marsha Ambrosius Debuts At The Top of The Charts + TV & Tour Dates

Marsha Ambrosius’ solo debut album, Late Nights & Early Mornings, enters this week at #1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart and #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, according to Nielsen SoundScan. With over 96,000 units sold since its March 1st release on J Records, Late Nights & Early Mornings also claims the #2 slot on the Digital Albums chart. This debut marks the highest sales and charts ranking Marsha ever had as a member of Floetry, the duo which released two studio albums and one live album that spawned the hit singles “Say Yes” and “Getting Late.”
Ushering the way for the album’s chart-topping debut is the current single “Far Away,” which is currently top 10 on the Urban Adult Airplay chart and was the highest debuting single for the week on the Urban Mainstream Airplay chart. The accompanying video, which tackles bullying, gay bashing and suicide, is in power rotation at VH1 Soul and Centric.

Marsha, a six-time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter/producer who also co-wrote Michael Jackson’s “Butterflies” (a remix version appears on her album), performed “Far Away” last week on The Wendy Williams Show. This Friday (3/11), Marsha will perform the single on Good Morning America.

Music journalists, bloggers, musical peers, industry tastemakers and “Marshians” are all praising the former Floetry member’s solo debut. With a 3 ½-star (out of 4) rating, People magazine proclaims Marsha’s “sensual solo debut will keep your love mojo going until the break of dawn.” USA Today bestows a 3 ½-star rating and states Marsha “doesn’t disappoint. Whether she’s shyly coming on to a guy or ruing his departure, her lyrics are expressive and witty, and her singing is passionate.” MSN.com states, “this record establishes Ambrosius as a formidable writer and performer,” while the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel sums it up, “Marsha Ambrosius’ range is unbelievable. Somewhere between Pavarotti and Michael Jackson, the 33 year-old R&B/soul singer’s tone and range is as much at home in an opera house as it is on top 40 radio.”

Marsha, a Centric Selects and BET Music Matters featured artist, will co-headline the nationwide “BET Music Matters Tour” alongside Melanie Fiona beginning March 16th in Dallas, TX.
