‘Flesh Tone’ The New Album Coming from Kelis

Flesh Tone, the new album from GRAMMY™-nominated singer-songwriter Kelis, will be released in the U.S. and Canada on July 6th and on May 17th in all other countries. Tipped as one of 2010’s “Best Bets” by Billboard, the record will be her first for will.i.am Music Group/Interscope Records. Last night Kelis was joined by guest DJ will.i.am on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in a riveting performance of lead single “Acapella

“Acapella,” produced by David Guetta (producer of The Black Eyed Peas’ smash single “I GOTTA FEELING”), is already an international No. 1 hit, having topped both the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs Chart and Music Week’s Pop Club Chart in the U.K. Entertainment Weekly called the song “another tall glass of delicious…a feathery dance-floor delight,” putting it on “The MustList” while People’s “Hot Downloads” column noted: “Kelis brings her milkshake back with ‘Acapella,’ a frenetic techno groove from her forthcoming disc, Flesh Tone.”

In addition to recording with Guetta, several other influential producers helped Kelis realize her vision for Flesh Tone, her first album in nearly four years. Label head will.i.am, who describes her as “a best kept secret,” produced one track and she also worked with Free School, Boys Noize, Burnz, DJ Ammo and Benny Benassi.

Kelis debuted in 1999 with Kaleidoscope, which featured the ubiquitous MTV/BET hit “Caught Out There.” The track entered the U.K. Singles Chart at No. 4 and Kelis went on to win a BRIT award (“International Breakthrough Act”), an NME award (“Best R&B/Soul Act”) and a Q award (“Best Music Video” for “Caught Out There”). Over the past 10 years, she has worked with a wide variety of artists, including The Neptunes, Andre 3000, Björk, Enrique Iglesias and Raphael Saadiq. Perhaps best-known for her GRAMMY-nominated, Top 5 smash “Milkshake” and the million-selling ringtone “Bossy,” the fashion icon is also a certified chef and a recent graduate of Le Cordon Bleu.
