UB Spotlight: Anthony Anderson, Ice-T + Christopher Meloni Talk Return of ‘Law and Order’

The return of “Law & Order” for Season 21 is a dream come true for so many. Premiering Thursday, February 24th at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

The series, which will continue the classic bifurcated format that was created for its original run, will once again examine “the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders.

It’s a continuation of the first 20 years with returning cast members Sam Waterston and Anthony Anderson, also joining Jeffrey Donovan, Hugh Dancy, Camryn Manheim and Odelya Halevi.

Continuing to navigate a murder mystery in the first half and a moral mystery in the second half – the bifurcated format that has been the hallmark of the ripped-from-the-headlines series since day one.

UB has screened the premiere episode “The Right Thing,” written by showrunner Rick Eid and features a high-profile victim and the complications of the law, circa 2022.

The show does not miss a beat! Seemingly picking up right where they left off, and tackling topics from todays headlines.

Lisa Arrindell Anderson guest stars on the episode. There’s an important dialog between the partners where Cosgrove states “I’m white he’s black, if I say the wrong thing my career is over.” Which touches on the racial disparities in policing that we’ve seen increase in recent years.

In that scene, the partners agree on one thing, “phone cameras are holding cops accountable.

In the episode newly acquainted partners Bernard and Cosgrove investigate the murder of a notorious entertainer. A dispute over throwing out a confession creates a rift in the DA‘s office.
