Despite his undeniable talent and contributions to the music scene, his story underscores the barriers that many black artists have encountered on their path to recognition and acclaim.
It’s been 35 years since the release of his debut album “Chuckii,” released in May of 1989.
In our preview, Chuckii, along with Steven from TROOP discuss their hit “All I Do Is Think of You.” Steve has always given Chuckii his flowers, going back to the beginning.
Steven states in our TROOP Feature for their sophomore release “Attitude.” “I had a keg of input with this whole album! Everything on this album is totally what I wanted to do on a personal basis. I got everything I wanted and working with Chuckii (Booker) was the best! He’s so good you can’t say enough about him. He listens to our suggestions and knows what’s good.”
The albums second single “Spread My Wings” topped Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart for two weeks, staying on the chart for 21 weeks. Followed by “All I Do is Think of You,” the Jacksons 5 remake.
